Bab Zuweila: Bab Zuweila is among the oldest gates in Cairo and is among the oldest structures that have become a symbol of history and richness in architectural designs that were developed during the Fatimid rule in the city.
Bab El-Futuh: Another gate of the mosque is also from the Fatimid period and is called the ‘‘Bab al-Futuh’’ or the ‘‘Gate of Conquests” where evidence of Ancient Cairo military power and usable defensive walls can be viewed.
Bab El-Nasr: The same being known as the ‘The Gate of Victory’, Bab El-Nasr being such the image articulates the story of Cairo perfectly.
El Bab Al-Akhdar "The Green Gate: It is the only relic of the Fatimid monument of El-Hussein's tomb, which keeps his head in a silver box. It was established of a block of engraved stone of 5.85m high and 6.65m wide. It is parallel to the El Hussein Mosque from the northwestern. The entrance of the green gate is 2m wide and 2.50m high.
El Bab El-Gadid "The New Gate: This name was called on two of the forts’ gates in the Islamic era. It consists of two gates; One dates back to the Fatimid era in 1170. It was established by Salah El-Din El-Ayouby at a distance of 150 m south of El-Zafr Tower. The gate has a unique architectural form, qualifying it to be a great fortress because of the many inclinations at its entrance.
Bab El-Ser, El-Gabal Citadel: This gate was made specially for the entrance of princes and dignitaries as ministers and clerks. Nowadays, it is known as El-Wastani Gate, "The Middle Gate".
It is situated in the middle gate that separates the general marine gate of the citadel from the court in which Al-Nasser Mohamed Ibn Qalawoun Mosque and Mohamed Ali existed.
Bab Sa’ada: It is one of the Old Cairo gates in the western wall, which is parallel to the Egyptian Gulf. It was established by Gawhar El-Sekly in 359 at the time of building the first wall. It is related to Sa’ada Ibn Hayan.
Bab El-Selsela, El-Gabl Citadel "The Series Gate: It is nowadays named "Arab Gate", which overlooks El-Gabl Citadel. It has two minarets and was known before as El-Establ Gate.
Bab El Ghory: This gate was located in the middle of the Khan El Khalili marketplace. It is still there with the same engravings and writings. It was established upon the command of Prince Konswa El Ghory. It is a giant gate, very high and ornamented with decorations.
Bab El Wazir: It is one of Cairo's outside gates in the last wall that was established by Saladin at a distance between El Maherouk Gate and El-Jabel Citadel. It was opened by Minister Negm El-Din Mohamed, known as the Minister of Baghdad at that time.

Day 01 The ten historical gates of Cairo
A day trip to Cairo, Ten Gates could provide much excitement and fun in experiencing Egyptian history and culture. Here is one possible day itinerary for visiting the gates:
Early morning: Setting out for the day should include the northern gates of Old Cairo, such as Bab El Nasr and Bab El Futuh. Strolling through these old streets and roaming around the markets is an experience in itself.
Late Morning: After the northern gates, journey towards the southern and eastern gates, such as Bab El Zuweila and Bab El Farghany. Stop midway to grab a snack with a traditional beverage.
Visit the central gates like Bab El Salam and Bab El Sharia, where you can do some sightseeing and spend some time shopping for souvenirs.
Afternoon: Round off your day by heading towards the southern and western gates, like Bab El Nasr and Bab El Kurdan. Relax, take in the view, and snap some memorable pictures.
NOTES:
Don't leave your camera at the hotel; take the chance to get the best pictures ever of these historical buildings that still retain the scent of the past. There will be times due to rare situations when the authorities will not allow you to photograph much, in that case, though, you will have enjoyed every moment in front of the gates.
